Nasonex Aqueous Nasal Spray 0.05% is a prescription medication that contains the active ingredient mometasone furoate, a type of corticosteroid. It is used to treat and prevent symptoms associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, such as stuffiness (congestion) in the nose, discharge, itching, and sneezing. In addition, it is also used to treat certain growths in the nose known as nasal polyps. Mometasone works by reducing inflammation in the nasal passages. Nasonex can be used for the treatment of nasal polyps in patients over 18 years of age. It is also used to treat the symptoms of rhinosinusitis in adults and children 12 years of age and older, who do not have the signs or symptoms of a severe bacterial infection. Please note that this medication does not work right away. Some people will feel this medication working within 1 to 2 days, but it may take up to 2 weeks before the full benefit of this drug takes effect.
